Reality IMT, a leader in precise reality capture services, successfully executed and delivered comprehensive LOD 350 As-Built Revit models for the entire Harris County Jail complex in downtown Houston. The massive project—encompassing nearly 1.5 million square feet of high-security facilities—was completed and delivered within a challenging one-month window, providing the crucial foundational data required for a county-led detention facility assessment plan.

This critical documentation effort supports the County’s mandate to assess, prioritize, and invest in facility improvements needed to meet Texas Commission on Jail Standards compliance guidelines. Reality IMT’s role was to transform existing physical infrastructure into a highly accurate, digital Building Information Model (BIM), overcoming significant logistical and security barriers unique to live, high-security operations.

“Documenting 1.5 million square feet in an operational jail environment presents a triple threat of challenge: scale, speed, and security,” said Ala Hamdan, CEO of Reality IMT. “Our primary hurdle was meticulous coordination with on-site officers, requiring our team to be escorted at all times to ensure secure operations were never compromised. Overcoming these access limitations while maintaining our aggressive schedule is a testament to our team’s VDC planning and technical precision.”
